Adventist University of the Philippines is private coeducational Christian university located in Puting Kahoy, Silang, Cavite, Philippines. The university is affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church and holds an autonomous status recognized by CHED (Commission on Higher Education).
HistoryThe institution was established in 1917 and during the Second World War, it continued to operate. After the war, a growing number of graduates from the school topped the Nursing National Board examinations and excelled in the field of science, especially in biology, and in the various academic fields.[3]
With a growing enrolment, in 1972 the administration at the Philippines Union College purchase a bigger piece of land consisting of 165 hectares of land located at Puting Kahoy, Silang, in the province of Cavite.[3] In 1979, freshmen and sophomore students started in this new campus and in 1981, with the movement of the juniors and seniors from Baesa, the campus transfer was completed.[3]
On August 1, 1996 in accordance with Republic Act (RA) No. 7722 and by the virtue of Resolution No. 132-96, Series of 1996, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted PUC the long-awaited University Status entailing the change of the school's name from Philippine Union College to Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP).[3]
